ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I couldn't label my music with one word…simply because it is difficult to find just a single style to describe it. You can recognise some jazz, Brazilian music, classical, contemporary, jazz improvisation, polyrhythms, and several voices with many woodwinds. When I created this music I thought about colors, environments, feelings. I remembered many things that I felt in my life. The songs that I heard during my childhood at my grandmother's house at family gatherings, people playing and singing, classical music, Brazilian and Italian songs; I think that there are all of these echoes on this album. When I started to study saxophone I discovered jazz music, not only North American jazz but all kinds of music containing improvisation. I used to hear a lot of Charlie Parker, Hermeto Pascoal, Jaco Pastorius, Egberto Gismonti…I was  interested in all of this music with improvisation; improvising was a new and exciting world for me. In my musical life until now I have played many types of music. I believe that this album (my first solo album in more than 20 years as a professional)  is a synthesis of my journey as a human being and a musician; my Brazilian culture and my Italian roots mixed with several jazz styles.
