Album Notes
Gwen Conley, vocal coach and trainer, brings tons of professional experience to her students as well as her vocal, piano, and music theory skills used in her 30+ years as a professional Pop, Gospel, Jazz, R&B and "jingle" singer. She is now one of the most appreciated vocal coaches today. She toured with James Brown (and "Maceo" bandleader) as his opening act which concluded in a week long, successful engagement with James at the Apollo. She's recorded over a dozen jingle sessions, one with her idol Bill Cosby for Coca-Cola, and another with music genius, Ray Charles, for Maxwell House Coffee. During her career she enjoyed 9-years of success in "live" television during which time she won a coveted Emmy Award as a guest soloist with the OSU Symphony Orchestra on their televised music special. She also hosted her own "spin-off" TV show entitled, "Feelings with Gwen Conley", interviewing famous guests, i.e., Billy Dee Williams, the Drifters, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Leroy Reams, et al. She's opened shows for Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley, Doc Sevrinson, Glenn Campbell, et al. She's grateful for these professional opportunities which came as a result of her thorough professional preparation which she passes on to her students today. "Expertise gained from passionate work ethics build and maintain vocal skills", a message she stresses to all of her students. "Training vocal students is a golden opportunity and I love it because it gives me an opportunity to prepare them for their career dreams as I have done, and it also gives me a chance to keep my pipes strong - the joy of my life!" Gwen Conley
