The Silver Glens

by Haggis Rampant

Suites, piobaireachd, hymns and a canon, and a couple of fast pieces just to wake you up, make this Great Highland bagpipe CD a low-key but beautiful departure for the father/daughter duo.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album is a different mix for us. We're usually playing music that makes our audiences want to jump up and shout "Freedom!" This time, to heck with creating energy; we wanted to record the music that stirs our souls.

We found a suite written by a piper in New Zealand; an antiphone written by a piper in Israel (both really nice people who graciously gave us permission to record their tunes). We dusted off some piobaireachd, which can best be described as the classical music of the bagpipes; and we put in a couple of hymns. Then we added some of the harmonies we are known for, and threw in some drumbeats where appropriate. We're pretty happy with the result.

Of course, we also included some light music to get your toes tapping a little, and to break things up a bit.

All in all, we like to think of this as our "quiet" CD. We hope you enjoy it.
