Underbelly

by Hannah Judson

Sweet songs from the underbelly, lovely-sad & almost true, these tales hint at ecstasy and tailspin from there. Paris based recording artist tells like it is, or could have been.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With Fender telecaster and sharpened pencil, these songs were written to observe and explore the nature of 21st century media, isolation, love & aspiration. Neither autobiographical nor about my friends, I draw characters from the newspaper, people on the street, those I’ve misplaced and now remember. I am interested in daily life. How we proceed, dodge & weave, right ourselves, clarify, justify, edit and compile. They examine private life under a lens amplified by an outside world: American wars, economic crisis, global warming, power of big pharmaceutical companies, and messages the media sends about how we should feel about our lives, with a background hum that something is missing. Mostly sad songs but I am happy singing them. I played in Chicago bands from 1993-2005 and am now based in Paris.
