Album Notes
"Lost in Saigon" is a work that is just seeing the end of its completion here in Saigon, Vietnam. The original work started in a barn studio near Bourge, France in the summer of 2001. This record has founds its way thru numerous bars and late night jam sessions all over France and VietNam. It has finally found its finishing touch here in the low lying back streets of Ho Chi Minh City formally know as Saigon

The Song "If You Wanna Dance To Rock and Roll" made its debut at the Rock Fan Club in Saigon, in front of about 2000 screaming fans. On that day, Leroy rocked harder than anybody has ever seen in Vietnam.

About Le Roy Jones aka HaNoi*LeRoi

Le Roy Jones is from Paris, France and has played all over Europe for the last 13 years. He has been the lead singer in five French groups. One 'D-Day" hailing from Issoudun, France, "P.X.X.I." Paris based, "Face to Face" Paris based, "Atomic Mushroom" Paris based and "The Micky Finn Band, Paris based. Completing five discs in the last six years Le Roy is now working in Viet Nam with musicians based in Ho Chi Minh City. He enjoys writing, playing and singing in an original mode that encompasses a musical history with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, The Cure and Bowie. Le Roy's musical credits include Lead singer for the Zal Band, London(ex Sensational Alex Harvey Band),The Tubes, San Francisco and his own groups in Los Angeles, with the likes of Earl Slick (Bowie, Lennon)

From the Tubes to Ho Chi Minh City.

Starting in San Francisco 1974 I was asked by Prairie Prince (Jefferson Starship, Todd Rundgren, The Tubes and Don Foggerty) and Michael Cotton (the Tubes) to join the Tubes in their first Winterland San Francisco show. After that I was asked to sing and dance in The Tubes Show along with world famous choreographer Kenny Ortega (Cher, Donna Summers, Michael Jackson, Bette Midler etc.). At one point while The Tubes were touring Europe I was asked by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band to become the lead singer. They then changed the name to the Zal band after the lead guitarist. After touring Britain and Sweden I went to LA and became the lead singer for my first Punk band "The Monsters", And after a big success formed another group called "Le Roi and The Lifters" and with countless gigs and a lot of publicity became very popular in Los Angeles. I also was the celebrated soul DJ at the world famous Rock n Roll club Restaurant "The Rainbow Bar and Grill" on Sunset and also "The Whisky Au GOGO". I also started another Punk group called "UGHAHHOOO" which resulted in having members from other Punk groups participate. I was principal in running the world famous "Jam Night" at the Central on Sunset in West Hollywood that attracted musicians and stars from all over the world including, David Lee Roth, Billy Idol, Chakka Khann, REO, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzie Osborne, members of Queen, The Who, John Belushi, Phill Lynot(Thin Lizzy) Slash (Guns n Roses), John Mayal and countless others. I opened a restaurant called "Toi on Sunset" which is still operating and home to Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Robert Downey Jr., Billy ZaNe, Tim Roth, Wesley Snipes, Elton John etc. I then moved to Paris where I started singing within a month after arriving. I formed a group called "Atomic Mushroom" and P.X.X.I. Then I went on to sing, write and record with "Face to Face" the heavy metal group from Paris. I then started my own original rock n roll group "D-Day" and wrote all the songs and recorded the disc "HaNoi" with them. This disc is a the moment under review at EMI France and it has also been excepted by the Minister of Culture and information in Viet Nam. I also sang with the legendary "Heavy Metal Kids" Mickey Finn for two and a half years and recorded with him also. I was lead singer at this time with the show group "Rock n Roll Circus" in Paris. Arriving in Viet Nam I have been working with Curtis King and his band as a lead singer, bass and even drummer. I look forward to learning, singing, writing, producing and even acting in the future, be it Viet Nam, Paris or points beyond...

I knew Leroy from West Hollywood. His friend/drummer? John( whose girlfriend was a playmate of the year) managed the apartments I lived in 450 Larrabee, just about 500 meters from the Viper room, aka Central, Filthy McNasty's. At that time I believe LeRoy's group "Leroy and the Lifters" were the house band for Flipper's Roller Boogie Palace a Rock an Roll skating rink frequented by celebrities like Cher.
John was only renting to extremly beautiful young ladies/starlett/groupies, which made sunbathing by the pool a treat. It was a great party at the 450 Larrabee until smeone tried to buy the apartments and convert them to condo's.

Leroy's Rockin the House!
Le Roy Jones has to be one of the "Last of the Unknowns"... I saw him tear up The Australia Day celebration here in Saigon last month and left them shouting for more. He just kept pumpin up the crowd and that’s no small feat in front of a ton of Aussi's. Get a load of this record and then hitch a ride to Vietnam cause its the only place you'll catch this incredible singer/performer...Bill S.

It's him allright
I remember seeing Le Roy in Paris at the Art Puce Cafe. He had the girls trying to get him strip on the tables as he belted out G.L.O.R.I.A. HE just blew the roof off the place and then wound up the people even tighter before blowing them awaaaaaaay with his original "YEAH,YEAH" That did me in, I'll never forget his sweat n tears and joy of singing, I hope you get the chance to hear this wonderful singer.

Where is Le Roi?
We had the pleasure up till last year of being able to see Le Roy Jones sing in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam with a number of groups the last being The Mekong Delta Band (which was the best of all his line ups). But he has dropped out of the limelight...We can't find him or any news of his whereabouts...If you have heard of or from him in the last year please let us know as he is one of the best Rock Singers ever...cheers...Sai Gon Inside/Out

Mr. Entertainment!!
One night I was walking by the Crazy Elephant in Singapore when I saw this guy standing on a table, shirt almost off (it's Singapore, remember!), humping his microphone, and he had the whole place rocking!! Absolutely incredible entertainer. This CD is a combination of punk rock, with some Vietnam-inspired originals. Awesome.
