Album Notes
Hamilton Kirkland a.k.a. "Harmonica Ham," was born in Greensboro, Georgia, the son of a Baptist preacher.

After taking up harmonica in his early 20s, Ham went on to win several awards for his country music playing, including twice winning the National Harmonica Championship. He honed his "blues-infused country" style while performing in various "dance-hall" and country show bands, sharing the stage with such notables as Hank Thompson, Rhonda Vincent and Chelee Wright.

The influences of blues men such as Little Walter Jacobs, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield and Muddy Waters are apparent in the earthy tones Ham squeezes from the harp.

This latest CD, "Another Side of Ham" shows off his versatility, ranging from roots country to rockin' jump blues to a haunting Scottish melody. Two original harp instrumentals, "Shawnee Shuffle" and "Ham's Slow Walk" round out the mix.

You have to get this CD!
I have always been a fan of Harmonica. I have played harmonica since 1980 off and on. A few years ago I got into it again. But I quickly started to get tired of the same old style that the harp is known for. It has changed since buying this CD! And the same for country style music too. This is one of the most enjoyable CD's
I have in my collection. I am planning to buy his other one as well. Very tasty harmonica and steel guitar. The other players are great too. If you want something you won't get tired of Buy this CD. Tasty harp, tasty steel playing all in one.

Very enjoyable listening CD. I like instrumentals and the harmonica is a great
Well worth the money spent to enjoy this variety of music and blend of instruments. Looking forward to even more recordings. Are you looking for new lyrics and music.....just happen to know of someone who writes and composes but doesn't perform!?

Nice selection of songs. Harmonica sounds terrific! Backup musicians are top not
What a nice variety of harmonica music and vocals! I especially like "Bonnie Nancy"--it brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. "Shawnee Shuffle" has a bit of a Zydeco feel or swing. It's a happy tune that I can't help but hum along with! Love the covers of Hank Williams and Hank Snow tunes.

Another Side of Ham
Country music & then some! Five of the ten tunes include Ham's vocals & his smooth & varied harmonica stylings emphasize that Ham is truly a champion. I'll play this one often on my radio program.

If you like retro western swing, you will love this cd.
If you like retro western swing, you will love this cd. It combines 50s honky tonk with electric blues harmonica. Ham's harp playing is right on the money and swings right along with the music. Credit must also go to Fred Uzzell for his hot steel pedal work. This one's a winner!
