ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
‘A HOME IS NOT A PLACE’ is the second solo album by American singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Harrison Young. Born in New York, Harrison has toured the world as both a solo artist and as a side man to several well known artists for the past decade, releasing 8 albums under various artist monikers along the way. Associated acts include Doro, UDO, The Cards, Little Neon, Earth Minor, Talib Kweli, and EBE.

ABOUT THE ALBUM: This album tracks Young’s journey across the ocean after moving from New York to The Netherlands in 2014. The title refers not only to the general isolation one can experience in such an action, but also to the process of building a new sense of home from within. This theme is interwoven with elements of Harrison’s experiences in his old and new countries, as evident in the album opener, “Gun People,” which takes a stark look at American gun culture, and the album’s softest moment, “Make You Believe,” a touching ode to fatherhood.

PERFORMERS: ‘A HOME IS NOT A PLACE’ features stellar performances by a diverse set of international musicians, including Nicholas Indalecio (USA) on guitar, Gidon Nunes Vaz (NL) on trumpet, Boris Oud (NL) on bass, and Harrison’s longtime collaborator, Daryl Anderson (USA), on drums. Young provides the piano and trombone layers alongside his signature voice.

The album also features guest appearances by Paul Quinn (UK), of the legendary rock band Saxon, John Czolacz (USA) of Young’s former band Earth Minor, and Koen Herfst (NL), drummer of Armin Van Buuren

The album was mixed and mastered by Harrison in The Hague, The Netherlands, with a cover photo by Natalia Romanova. All music and lyrics were written by Harrison Young except track 5 (co-written with guitarist Nicholas Indalecio) and track 6 (an arrangement of the popular song written by Chris Cornell). ‘A HOME IS NOT A PLACE’ will be released worldwide on 10 January, 2020 on all major online music outlets with physical copies available at www.harrisonyoungmusic.com.

MORE ABOUT HARRISON YOUNG: Harrison Young is a jazz singer with a rock and roll musician’s heart, having toured extensively in both realms for over a decade. After a long upbringing in the clubs of New York City, Harrison first broke into the international scene in 2012, touring the world as keyboardist for Doro Pesch before joining the band of former Accept singer Udo Dirkschneider. In 2015, Harrison branched out on his own, mounting the first of several solo jazz tours across Europe and Russia, showcasing his multi-instrumental abilities on voice, trombone, piano, and more. Harrison is the lead singer and bassist of The Cards, a blues rock trio, which he co-founded with legendary guitarist Paul Quinn of Saxon.
