ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After playing over 40 years in Jazz venues around the world, after contributing to more than 50 CDs en LPs, after accompanying several 100’s of international soloists, it was time to release a solo CD.
With this CD I would like to tribute all those pianists that I’va listened to and enjoyed countless times. This concerns pianists from the Ragtime and early Jazz period, pianists from the Swing and Bebop era, up to piano players from the fifties. I chose compositions from all these giants that fit this project. I did not try to play in their particular styles but approached it in my own way, although you will of course often hear influences from the original composers. Further I chose to put the tunes in chronological composer order, which brought some additional complications around sufficient variation in tempo and key. Therefore you will not hear the most obvious compositions.
It was a fun job to record this challenging project at home on my new Yamaha C6X grand piano.
