ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Head In A Jar EP features three tracks from Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate's forthcoming When The Kill-Code Fails album, plus a blistering cover of Bob Dylan's 'Maggie's Farm'.

Artwork by Kinga Britschgi

Track 1) Head In A Jar

Head In A Jar is about an artificial intelligence contemplating itself, and being a bit angry about it all. In the Kill-Code album, the character will get over it's whole 'am I really alive or not' stuff, so it will have a happy ending, but at this stage in the story, the character hasn't, so isn't such a happy bunny. The head and jar are both virtual. It's also a bit metaphorical, so even if you aren't a virtual character (as far as you know), or a literal head in a jar, you might empathise.

Written/performed/produced by Malcolm Galloway. Recorded in Sonar X3. Vocals recorded with Patrick Doyle at the Camden Recording Studios.

Track 2) Glass Lithium

This is an instrumental electronica track. Mostly strings/synths/drums.
Written/performed/produced by Malcolm Galloway. Recorded in Sonar X3.

Track 3) Maggie's Farm

A cover of the Bob Dylan's classic. I thought the defiance of the song fitted with Head In A Jar, and also included as a tribute to my dad, a big Dylan fan.

Written by Bob Dylan.
Performed by Malcolm Galloway (vocals, guitars, bass, production) and Kathryn Thomas (flute). Recorded in Sonar X3. Vocals recorded with Patrick Doyle at the Camden Recording Studios.

Track 4) Broken Wave

A still, sad, spacious instrumental, sounding a bit like the stuff between the songs in a Pink Floyd album.
