Album Notes
Christine Havrilla's aggressive guitar playing animates her tales of the scars, fumbles, first times, simple pleasures, pain & yearning any listener would recognize told in recordings & shows with equal appeal to rock, pop, singer/songwriter, folk and alternative listeners in the U.S. and overseas.

Havrilla is comfortable in front of large audiences(8,000 at Musikfest and Penn State Arts Festival, 5,000 at Erie Arts Fest and Philadelphia Aids Walk, and crowds in New York's Central Park and Philadelphia's Belmont Plaza as part of the National Tour of "Girls on the Move") as well as sellout performances in venerable smaller venues such as Philadelphia's Tin Angel, Atlanta's Eddie Attic, and new York's CB's Gallery, with frequent stops throughout the East Coast.
Havrilla's material has already gained mass momentum online. Some of her web-based accomplishments include:

*5 songs having multi-day stays at the No. 1 singles slot on mp3
*7 songs in the top 40 at once on mp3
*mp3 only CD, "Halo" shot to No. 1 on the Folk/Rock album chart
*she received mp3's "2001 Blockbuster Award" for a female rock artist for her dominance in the charts
*"Another River" hit the No. 1 spot on in the folk/rock category
*she was selected to perform locally in the "Best of the West Coast" tour for

The positive recognition does not stop online, however. She was nominated for Philadelphia City Paper's 2002 Best Folk/Group award, and has received 2 grants from The National Endowment for the Arts for it's "Meet the Composer" series. She has also opened for such acts as Jill Sobule, Don McLean, Melissa Ferrick, Jani Ian, Karla Bonoff, Catie Curtis and Sally Taylor. She composed and performed the guitar accompaniment for a spoken word recording for Johnny Cash. One of her recordings, "As You Feel', is included in the "Women Rock" CD to benefit the suicide survivors' organization Say The Word, and she has written and recorded a commissioned work, "Worst Day", for the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape's 2001 benefit educational CD, "XPOSE".

Mike Joyce of the Washington Post called Christine's sophomore studio recording "Some Other Thing" :something special", noting that "her songs are intelligent and moving, the arrangements are incisive and colorful, and, best of all, Havrilla consistently comes off as a seasoned performer."
Atlanta's Creative Loafing raved "Havrilla cuts through the murky singer-songwriter waters with a more sophisticated compositional vision, far removed from the disappointing good-voice-simplistic-strum-along formula. She's from the rare but appreciated "player first, folk singer second' school of folk rock."

Christine's long awaited 3rd studio release, "this whirlwind life", should continue to define her in the folk/rock world of music.

I'm a singer/songwriter who had my songs posted on Being on that site it makes us review other artists. I was lucky enough to get to hear a few of Christine's songs and fell in love with the sound.
I see big things to come for this very talented gal. I hope nothing but the best! She deserves to be heard my millions!

Great CD - easy listening in the car
Saw the singer in concert in Center City and ordered the CD - great music.

This is the best cd. The others are super too.
Christine just keeps getting better. If you like this cd get her other ones too. A ton of songs on this cd and they are all good.
