Karuna

by Heady & Sullen

Karuna is replete with atmosphere and melody. Formed by Ariel Vega's Rock background and Tammy Fons's classical background but catapulted into creation by a symbiotic link, their music is lofty and baroque and full of love without the aegis of cliché.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When Heady&Sullen met in 2011, they wrote about 40 songs in the span of 2 years. Recordings for the Karuna album started on the heals of their self-titled EP in 2014. They expanded on the approach of sequencing electronic rhythms and recording live piano and drums. For Karuna, they invited Eddy Perez on guitar and Danny Garcia on bass to support Ariel's unconventionally ardent rock drumming and vocals. Furthermore, they took to arranging even grander orchestral and symphonic elements over deep ambiance that supports Tammy's prolific classical piano music. All these elements make for a truly diverse album that flows seamlessly from sublime to sensuous, from strident to subtle, and from heady to sullen.
