ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Heather Dale cheerfully disregards the stereotypical limits for both folk singer-songwriters and Celtic balladeers. Tapping into the continuing evolution of Celtic peoples worldwide, this Canadian recording artist offers a new type of Celtic music for the 21st century: a playful, passionate blend of tradition and innovation. "Her music is powerful stuff, reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt and Sarah McLachlan but with a depth and resonance rooted in its mythic sources." (Vancouver Sun)

Her 'Call The Names' CD features a full hour of Heather's early folk songs inspired by the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Heather sets her songs against the backdrop of the mythical Kingdom of Ealdormere, a land of beauty, humour and valiant deeds. Many songs on 'Call The Names' were directly inspired by the historical re-enactors who recreate pre-1600AD life in our modern age.

Heather plays most instruments on the album, including folk instruments such as the Irish bodhran drum, harp and
wooden recorders, and invokes every mood from wistfulness to laughter with her vocals. She also met the challenge of re-mastering some of her early recordings for this album.

There is a 40+ page songbook available, with lyrics, sheet music and chord notations for all the songs on this CD.

Heather Dale tours full-time (100+ concerts per year) across North America and Europe. Recordings by Heather Dale include: The Gabriel Hounds (2008), The Road to Santiago (2005), May Queen (2003), This Endris Night (2002), Call The Names (2001), and The Trial of Lancelot (2000).

Beautiful Music.
This CD, one of Heather Dale's first, is absolutely beautiful. Her sense of appropriate tune and her incredibly epic lyrics give this collection of songs the feel of a traditional oral chronicle of a land and it's people.
