ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album won an American Library Association Notable Recording Award.

From concert halls to circus tents, I have been traveling throughout the United States telling stories to audiences of all ages. People seem mesmerized by the storytelling process. I see them looking at me as the teller and I know full well that they are looking inside of themselves. Listening to a story is not a passive experience. It is a creative interaction between the teller, the story, and the imagination of the listener. Although an ancient art form, storytelling is reemerging in our modern media world as a way for people to experience the joy of being creative listeners.

The stories I tell are from the resources of world folklore. I am especially drawn to folktales and fables which contain a kernel of homespun wisdom passed down through the oral tradition. Spanning time and place, these old tales ring with a familiarity, a sense that people of the Earth live together under one sky.
