Album Notes
B-Sides was put together while Brian Vollmer was trying to "bridge the gap" between the original line-up & writers to a new phase of the band, around 1988. Paul Hackman had been tragically killed in a car accident returning from tour (he was a major writer in the band), Brent Doerner had quit in 1989, and Daryl Gray had left around 1997. Brian was trying to keep the band from fading into oblivion by releasing this recording. Danger Zone was the last track he and Hackman ever wrote. He found the song on an AKAI tape, along with You Got The Love That I Like and recorded the songs at DB and EMAC studios with the help of producer Danny Broadbeck. They also recorded S-E-X-RATED at the same time, a politically incorrect song if there ever was one. There were 2 versions of Jaws of the Tiger, which was originally recorded for the Back for Another Taste CD at River Studios in Fort Erie. This is the second version, which eventually ended up on several TV and movie sound tracks, including "Chicks With Sticks" starring Jason Priestly. I Wanna Be Stoned was written by Tony Paleschi, Rob Long, Bill Gadd, and Brian Vollmer while they were in a weekend band called 7 Year Itch. The song originally appeared on 30 Years of Helix, released by Capitol Canada, but the disc saw a short life span when Brian and Capitol got into a war over the fact that the company had released the CD in the U.S. without securing the rights to certain songs from the Back For Another Taste album. Other gems on this disc include Everybody Pays the Price and Delilah, both of which were at one time or another licensed to Capitol/E.M.I., and the shortened original version of Love Is A Crazy Game which was recorded at Steve Marranachio's studio in New York State. The song eventually was made longer and appeared on It's A Business Doing Pleasure.
