ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hemmelig Tempo is a quasi-scientific and often satirical sound research group consisting of Professor Waffel, Doktor Døv and Professor Fokuda-san. In their laboratory in Bergen, Norway, the group constructs diy instruments, mechanical devices and electronic circuits in a landscape inhabited by analog synthesizers, old school samplers and drum machines. The sound experiments, often spanning the entire history of electronic music, are presented publically in multidisciplinary concerts, installations, dance, film and theatre in collaboration with other arts and artists. The result is an expression somewhere in the twilight zone between quasi-science, performance, improvisation, collage, satire and avant-garde sound art.

The trio released their first album “Who Put John Cage on the Guestlist” on the reknown French progressive label Musea in 2011. The album was voted as one of the albums of the year in the US-based Assymetry Music Magazine.

Inspired by BBC’s Radiophonic Workshop, “Are You Part of Some Kind of Cult?” is a concept album about a fictional island of pseudo-science worshippers, explored in a collage of electronic music, sound experiments, field recordings, foley, and analog synthesizer extravaganza..
