ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New Orleans icon Allen Toussaint says, “Henri represents us very well everywhere … with class and pizzazz – we love that!” And Charles Neville, of The Neville Brothers, who is featured on this CD says, “Like Satchmo [Louis Armstrong] and many others, Henri embodies the spirit of New Orleans in every performance.”

The performance on this CD, recorded live at the historic Larcom Theatre in downtown Beverly, MA is a stellar example proving that Charles Neville and Allen Toussaint are spot on.

Featuring Grammy-award winners, Charles Neville and Amadee Castenell on stage with the brightest young talent from Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory, Henri Smith brings traditional New Orleans jazz and blues to life for an enthusiastic New England crowd.

Recorded by veteran Jazz engineer, Bill Winn and mastered at the Boston area’s famed Q Division Studios by Joe Tooley, this masterpiece stands as a shining example of how traditional music in an old-world theatre with spectacular acoustics can be brought to your ears through the miracle of state-of-the art recording technology applied by masters of the craft.

ABOUT HENRI SMITH
Born and raised in New Orleans’ 13th ward, Henri Smith has been immersed in his city’s music and culture all his life. Henry embodied traditional New Orleans Jazz as a WWOZ radio personality and host of Jazz Fest. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed Henri’s home and sent him to New England where he shares the spirit and soul of New Orleans through his music.
