Album Notes
"Chaotic improvisations, complex arrangements, the occasional cover - the band Henry is, in short, unpredictable...." - Reticulated Records

Henry is influenced by artists like Frank Zappa, Wire, Flipper, Joy Division, Richard Thompson, Husker Du, and the Meat Puppets with roots or influences in popular, rock, alternative, punk, and a hint of jazz, country, and blues.

The band has experimented with many forms of music and the vaults of Taras Ostroushko's recordings consists of literally thousands of original songs and interpretations of popular songs of various genres, often mixed - many claiming a unique sound of all their own.

In 1992, the band formed with band members Mike Lasley, Chris Nord, and Taras Ostroushko. In 1998, the band produced their "Pay Attention To Me Now" CD and "False Misinterpretations b/w Lime and Lace" LP release with Reticulated Records. Upon discovery in 2000, the band's productions were edited for release on-line. Later in 2000, Jeff Vokracka joined the band.

The band has recorded scores of unreleased material and is preparing it for release in the very near future.

Band members have played on the same bill with the Meat Puppets, The Dead Kennedies, Joy Division, Husker Du, Zuzus Petals, The Cows, Grant Hart, Terry Eason, Shellac, Railroad Jerk, Greazy Meal, Venison, The Wonsers, Bully the Pole, Good Joe, Duran Duran, The Teardrops Explodes, and many others.

Henry has played live at First Avenue/7th Street Entry, Uptown Bar, 400 Bar, Cabooze, Terminal Bar, Turf Club, The Red Sea, Big V's, O'gara's, Loring Bar, and many other places. Henry has also ventured out to play clubs in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

"Henry improvises with fervor and reckless abandon." - Cake Magazine

"Abusurdist, whimsical words...simple and catchy little ditties with surprising changes...." - Listen.com

"CD has arrived. Loved it. Very Zappa in places, so I'll play you against him...Thanks for sending me such top gear." - John Martin, CRMK 89.8 FM

Henry has been featured on Zone 105 (Mary Lucia's Sunday night local program "Popular Creeps") and Radio K (University of Minnesota College Radio). Henry was also in the studio hosting the "In Your Ear" show on KFAI Mlps. 90.3 FM and St. Paul 106.7 FM. Henry was also featured against Frank Zappa on 89.8 FM, Milton Keynes Cable Radio, Great Britain, on John Martin's "Eight Miles High" Saturday night show.

Taras Ostroushko - Vocals, Second Guitar, Bass

Taras Ostroushko, the composer-instigator-bassist of Henry, may be familiar to longtime music-scene followers as the guy behind art-punk misfits Ground Zero, who toured extensively and released two well-received Bob Mould-produced LPs on Reflex Records in the mid-'80s.

Mike Lasley - Second Vocals, Guitar

Guitarist Mike Lasley, longtime Twin Cities rocker, played in the legendary Dads, whose 45 release now fetches double digits on the collectors market. Lasley also fronted the pop power trio Good Joe, whose contribution to Twin Tome Records' Big Hits of Mid America Vol. IV was one of that LPs outstanding tracks. Mike once told Paul Westerberg to start a band.

Chris Nord - Drums, Sound Engineer

Drummer Chris Nord has worked with Technique Niquee, Vector(which opened for Duran Duran, and The Teardrops Explodes), Vertigo, and Flaming Interior Decorators. He also is an accomplished sound engineer and has recorded numerous bands in his own Electric Man studio. Among his clients are The Vibro Champs, Brick Layer Cake, Vertgo, The Wonsers and many other Twin Cities Bands, the list is long.

Jeff Vokracka - Bass

Quick learner and a real music afficianado, Jeff Vokracka makes a new addition to the band in 2000.

CD gets more play than the radio!
When I'm in my car, I love listening to this CD. I love "Pay Attention To Me Now", "The Lounge Piece", "Siberia", "False Misinterpretations", and "Lime and Lace", "Lizards/(I Hate My) Left Hand", and "Rustlin' of the Nose Hairs/Plans for the 90s". All of these tracks sound like the band is there in my car when playing it in the car. When the radio has become a re-run drag, this CD is there to rescue me to put me into a re-run hip club. I of course have the volume turned up loud enough to make sure the cars in traffic can hear it too, which is the recommended volume. You'll never experience this type of incredible music anywhere but with this CD.
