Album Notes
JACKSONVILLE GIRLS ...A Southern Rock Suite~E!

"Jacksonville Girls" is an EPIC song in every sense of the term...and if you will make the time to read this essay, I promise to prove it to you! ...The story of "Jacksonville Girls" could basically serve as "The VH-1 Behind The Music" of my band:
"Henry and the Seahawks"...and is semi-auto-biographical of my life, but I don't get ANY of the GLORY!...So please, read on...it's worth it because I've got some GOOD~NEWS for you too!

The inspiration to write this song, I originally received while visiting Jacksonville with my then JAX girlfriend from my home-town of Atlanta, GA back in the Summer of 1995. But it wasn't until 2001, while living in Saint Augustine that I actually wrote the bulk of the melody and lyrics. However, after having hatched "Henry & The SeaHawks" back then in '01 and recording our first record ("Song For The Sun" available through cdbaby and iTunes) I was immediately recruited to Nashville by an old Atlanta friend/associate and club owner of "The Tin Roof" ...thus, "Jacksonville Girls" was put on hold for an entire decade.

After returning to Saint Augustine in 2011, I took "Jacksonville Girls" off the back-burner and began recording the song with Todd Lombardo, a Saint Augustine prodigy, who is now having major success in Nashville as a young session/road musician and record producer. The two of us began the recording process called "over-dubs" in February of 2012, while I was performing along with him in a SeaHawks re-union show in Nashville with my old line-up of "Tenn~a~SeaHawks". And as fate would have it, I was accompanied on the trip by my NEW Jacksonville Girl-friend!

"Jacksonville Girls" by "Henry and the Seahawks" features an ALL~STAR blend of various line-up's of the SeaHawk "Fraterna~sea", past, present and hopefully future. From super talented local musicians here in Florida which I refer to as: "The Wahoo's line-up" to my Nashville "Tenn~a~SeaHawks" to thee most highly sought after musicians in Country music whom I refer to as "The Varsity line-up" including: Grammy award winner Brent Mason ("B~Hawk) on electric guitar; Pensacola area native, B. James Lowry ("B~JAM'S") on the genius acoustic and Spanish lead guitar; Jimmy Nichols ("J~Hawk") on keyboards and "Beach-3 Organ", along with the aforementioned Todd Lombardo ("The Sunshine Kid") who not only co-produced this track but composed and led the band through the beautiful opening one minute instrumental "peace" with his brilliant vibro-lux guitar work! Todd also played electric guitar along-side the legendary Brent Mason throughout the entire track. West Palm Florida native and now Saint Augustine stand-out, Woody Pernell joined Nashville's Eric Darken on percussion. Likewise, there was also much contribution on the track by Saint Augustine's multi-talented Lucio Rubino who's assistance was in recording many of the most vital tracks at his "Fish Tank Recordings" including his own beautiful background vocals and accommodating me in recording my own acoustic rhythm guitar parts as well as my lead and background vocals. Lucio ("LuRu~the~Guru") also helped capture the truly inspired and stellar pedal-steel guitar work by Wild Wood Florida's Jim Douglas ("The Sea~cret Weapon") who was a member of the original 2001 SeaHawks I named the "Ol' Soul line-up." Lucio also shared additional bass guitar duties with Nashville session great, Spady "Spuds" Brannan, another Florida Native! But the BULK of the bass guitar work was done with precision and taste by Tim Marks and recorded in Nashville with drummer Evan Hutchings who together with Toddy "laid it down" FAT for us all to over-dub to during the recording of the original basic tracks in the late Summer of 2011.

But this final track would've never sounded so impeccable and smooth without the cunning, skills and expertise of seasoned engineer/producer Bill McDermott ("Billy-Mac") at "Dogden Studio" in Nashville, who was able to blend the multi-layers of JAX~TRAX plush-tones and textures together over a 3 day mixing marathon, emailing mp3 mixes back to me in Florida to make notes and adjustments to give back to him.

"Jacksonville Girls" was un-officially released in 2014 as "Bonus:JAX~TRAX" on Henry & The SeaHawks 20 song compilation disc called: "Seasoned With Salt...Sweetened With Sweat...The BEST Of SeaHawk LOVE!" (Soon to be available on cdbaby/iTunes). But prior to officially releasing "Jacksonville Girls" as a single in February of 2015, we went back in the studio one final time with LuRu and Billy~Mac to do a few tweaks on the mix and a couple of lyric edits. Ironically, Southern Rock legendary producer and friend, Rodney Mills (38 Special, Lynrd Skynrd) out of Doraville, GA, mastered Jacksonville Girls...totally authenticating it!

In the interim of the "seed of inspiration" being planted in my heart and this final mix being up-loaded to cdbaby and iTunes, I've battled and OVERCOME and found VICTORY over a litany of personal demons; suffered and soldiered through some monumental heart-breaks; divorce; severe financial hardship; semi-homelessness; performed thousands of gigs; toured the South East; recorded a half a dozen records; and was in and out of over a dozen hospitals with diverse malady's from diabetes and hyper-tension III to chronic (demonic) depression ("oppression"/"affliction") before finally being DELIVERED from the "kingdom of darkness" and the "mouth of the lion" in September of 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital...Jacksonville, Florida...GLORY BE TO GOD!

I now enjoy 100% HEALTH and have been Supernaturally Healed by the Blood of Jesus Christ of "all my sickness and infirmity"...By "His Stripes" He bore all our infirmity...by His Stripes I am Healed! Praise God!

Recently, and much to my delight, I ("Henry~Joe") became briefly acquainted with a third "Jacksonville Girl" that despite never having met in person, INSPIRED me by her FAITH, goodness, kindness, sweetness (and CUTE~NESS!) to create the
"ghetto-licous" video that is quickly catching fire on youtube! I wanted to play her the song, but I also wanted to give her something cool to look at...the visions in my mind! I guess it's really true that "Art imitates life ...and LIFE imitates art! But truly, there's some kind of POWERFUL~CONNECTION between me, Saint Augustine and "JACKSONVILLE GIRLS!"

Well, I sure hope that you dig what we've done, and I PRAY one day that I'll...

~~~~seA ya in the Son!~~~
~~~~~~~More about "Henry and the Seahawks"~~~~~

Henry & The SeaHawks: 2001-?...Seasoned with SALT and armored in LIGHT, Henry has lived up to the terms:
"WORK HORSE" and "WAR HORSE". He’s had the good fortune of making five records with various line-ups of SeaHawks showcasing a wide variety of influences from a rich palette of diverse rhythms, plush textures and stirring melodies.

A singer/song-writer, Henry’s skillfully combined elements of Country, Southern Rock, Latin, Bluegrass, Jazz and R&B into a "beach-town and Spiritually inspired sea-food gumbo!" ~ Edge Of The Blue, his latest effort, produced by multi-Grammy nominee David Malloy with Tim Johnson (also a #1 HIT song-writer) was recorded with an assembly of the finest and most sought after musicians in Country music. In addition to the three studio records, the band has recorded two "LIVE!" records as well.

Legends like Waylon Jennings and The Marshall Tucker Band as well as current stars like Zac Brown and Billy Currington are just a few of the acts Henry’s shared billing with. The SeaHawks "LIVE!" shows at The Tin Roof in downtown Nashville, were also the stuff of underground legend attracting the likes of Toby Keith, Clay Walker and even Jon Bon-Jovi to "sit-in" with this "entertainer’s entertainer". The SeaHawks were also a wildly popular band amongst the big SEC colleges and toured them extensively.

Henry’s hopes and dreams almost ended tragically in 2008 due to a serious over-all health breakdown, and the singer struggled to regain to OVERCOME it for nearly five years. Having been DELIVERED by the BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST in the fall of 2012, Henry has made SUPERNATURAL recovery and is once again back in the saddle and waging WAR against the enemy via secular music with POSITIVE influence.
