Album Notes
I first heard "The Island Song" in 1983 while on Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I happened (by providence) to run into Bruce Crichton around 3am in a parking garage where Bruce just HAD to play this song he'd written because of the incredible acoustics! I was with a close buddy as well as my older brother, Todd Murphy, (now a renowned painter/sculptor who was studying art at the University of Georgia in Athens who had been telling me for months, "Henry, you've GOT to hear this song, 'Island Song', and hear this guy, Bruce Crichton!" Well, hearing this song and how Bruce played it and sang that night had a PROFOUND IMPACT on me and that's an under-statement!

But this was the SECOND such IMPACT. The first occurred when John Schneider of "The Duke's Of Hazard" fame, who had just graduated from the High School my sisters attended, came and sat in the living room our house and played several incredible songs for us when I was about 13. THAT was thee "moment" that I became aware that I wanted to pursue music as his life-long vocation. But hearing Bruce sing "The Island Song" for the first time really LIT A FIRE inside of me to begin writing songs and really working hard at becoming an excellent singer, acoustic guitar player and artist.

The song was written in an open key, which I call a "sea~cret" tuning but I never could figure it out until my former musical duo partner Francisco Vidal ("Murphy & Vidal"...ATL, GA 1991-95) showed it to me in return for a shop-vac and some other miscellaneous tools I had in my basement which I was un-loading during a "FIRE~SALE" during one of the lowest valley's in my life. We sat for a couple hours in that basement as the sun started pouring in...learning "The Island Song".

Well, learning the song, INSPIRED me to continue to carry-on...it RE~LIT the FIRE and and RE~IGNITED the PASSION for me to continue in music; return to Sunny Florida and to hatch "Henry & The SeaHawks". We recorded "The Island Song" on our first release "Song For The Sun" (which can be purchase here or downloaded by one of its affiliates like iTunes or Amazon). I now refer to that cast of the SeaHawk "Fraterna-sea" / "The Ol' Soul line-up" and the song, the record and the band became so popular so quickly that we were recruited to Nashville, TN, aka "Music City USA" to help establish the now wildly-popular "TIN ROOF" located at 1516 Demonbreun St. on what's called "Music Row".

Because I had to reform (re-load) the group with mostly NEW members I dubbed the "Tenn~a~seaHawks" line-up, I recorded "The Island Song" again for the second time on our record aptly called "Tenn~a~sea".
In all humility my band Henry & The SeaHawks took Nashville by storm from 2002-2008 and were dubbed by Storme Warren of GAC as "Nashville's Official 'House-Band'". We also toured the South East and particularly the BIG S.E.C. Universities which inspired me to write "BAM!" ("Girls Of The S.E.C."). Because of my then OUTRAGEOUSLY ENTERTAINING "act" /"Shtick" and the many popular songs I had written or co-written and my group had recorded and/or covered, I received a record-deal in 2007 by multi-Grammy nominated Producer David Malloy who has 41 #1 HITS to his credit. So once again, I was BACK in the studio, recording amongst 13 other great songs, "The Island Song" for the 3rd and FINAL time!...But this time, I was accompanied by thee VERY BEST , seasoned, savvy studio musicians in Country music aka
"The Varsity line-up" including Brent Mason, B. James Lowry, Jimmy Nichols, Spady Brannan, Greg Morrow, Eric Darken, Angel Roman and Todd Lombardo. This time the singer chose to cut it with more of a romantic, breezy, laid-back vibe and the mellower key of "C"...("Sea") . This track was produced by David Malloy and also with the late GREAT Tim Johnson who have BOTH been to #1 many times.

We also cut "The Island Song" on both of our "LIVE!" records yet each recording of the song, studio or live includes a different key; a different tempo, a slightly different feel and generally a different cast of musicians. Although I LOVE each version of "The Island Song" , I defer to this one as my "FAVORITE" because it was the FULFILLMENT of the DREAM which began in me at the age of 13, was ignited again with meeting Bruce Crichton in Fort Lauderdale some 5 years later...RE-IGNITED by Francisco Vidal teaching me the song...recording the song 5 times between 2002 and 2007.

After recording "The Island Song" on our "Edge Of The Blue" record I had down with David Malloy and "The Varsity" line-up of the brethren of SeaHawks, we had planned to release the record to Starbucks and Walmart and were discussing a tour with Tim McGraw, but fate steeped in and I got "THE CALL" to ministry but not before becoming DEATHLY ILL in 2008 and struggling for almost half a decade to regain a healthy body and sound mind.

Then, GLORY be to GOD, I was supernaturally "DELIVERED" from the "kingdom of darkness" and "The mouth of the lion (LIAR)" and put back on my feet again to re-relese this song through my NEW venture with my NEW partner Stephen D. Tanner aka "TAN~MAN!" in 2015. The two of us established a secular music ministry called "WAR HORSE Creations, LLC" in the Fall of 2013 out of Davidson county Nashville, from my old home, 984 DAVID'SON Drive, "Music City USA" with the following mission statement:

"To plunder the gates of hell and POPULATE THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN by conducing SPIRITUAL WARFARE on the enemy via secular music with POSITIVE INFLUENCE i.e. 'soft-sell' evangelism."

We sure hope that you dig what we've done, and one day I pray that I'll....
LIFE truly is a JOURNEY!...ENJOY!
