ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born in Watertown, CT, Henry Cyr is a passionate singer-songwriter whose catchy tunes and lyrics reflect a modern acoustic sensibility. Cyr’s music, which has been created and developed since childhood, has a pop-folk sound with bluesy undertones, similar to the likes of Gavin DeGraw and Ray LaMontagne. He’s created a sound though that’s all his own, deriving inspiration from life, love and the world around him. The result culminates in a sound altogether unique and relatable.

Henry began playing guitar at age twelve on his father’s Ovation, but didn’t begin writing music until college at the University of Connecticut. There, he was part of the acoustic-pop duo “Fo’Real,” until they parted amicably upon graduation. After a brief tenure in New York City, his musical career really took flight when Henry relocated to Baltimore, MD a few years ago. Since then, he’s established himself as an energetic performer in the local music scene, known for singing his heart out to an off-the-wall cover or original song. His popularity really grew this past year, when he released his second annual holiday album entitled “Christmastime.” As the follow-up to 2011’s “Christmas Card,” It was a rousing success, and included many holiday favorites as well as the self-penned title track.

Henry describes himself as a “pop culture junkie” whose love for the Harry Potter series and Mad Men are well-known among his friends. He has been known to sip a scotch while warming up to sing, and he spends hours reading Entertainment Weekly. Henry, though, takes his music very seriously, and practices at his craft every day. “I don’t want to [end up being] just some guy with a guitar singing love songs,” he says. “I want to be more than that.”

Henry was fortunate to join forces with producer Jason Rubal (Dresden Dolls, Robert Smith) to craft "A Weakness for Blondes," his official debut album. "I have been working towards this for years," he exclaims. "I am psyched to release this out to the world. These songs have been my babies, and I hope people can listen and find a connection with them."

In working with Jason Rubal, Henry has delivered an exciting mix of tunes in "A Weakness for Blondes," and anyone who gives it a listen will be drawn in.
