Album Notes

This is a link to the cricket biography of Henry Olonga at the home of cricket on the web, Cricinfo.

Former Zimbabwean international cricketer, Henry Olonga, is an emerging tenor who has long participated in arts festivals and productions. He has appeared in the Harare Festival of the Arts in an hour long recital, has sung at Traquir Fair in Scotland and has released a chart topping single in Zimbabwe called, ‘Our Zimbabwe’. Had it not been for the opportunity to have an international cricket career spanning eight years, Henry Olonga would have possibly attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic art in 1995 to pursue a career in the performing arts.

With a foundation that lies in being afforded leading roles in productions such as the Gondoliers, Annie go get your gun, Joseph and his Technicolor dream-coat, Olonga has recently completed recording a full contemporary pop album with one of the UK’s top producers,Robbie Bronnimann. Bronnimann is known for his classy mixes and collaborations which include artists such as Chicane, Gareth Gates, the Sugar babes and Howard Jones. Also known for his superb remixes, Robbie’s work has featured on countless dance music compilations, including the ubiquitous Euphoria, Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi series. Today Robbie is one of the most respected producers on the music scene, gaining commissions from both independent and major labels for his uncompromising approach to mixing and mastering.

A most enjoyable cd, words, music, voice were all superb.
Heard one song on radio which prompted me to buy. So glad that this introduced me to music which came from the heart straight to mine. Lyrics so wonderful, the music lovely to the ear and I loved the African background singing too, it added something special to the album. Thank you.

A well inspired work with the African sound fussion adding a unique and well placed twist-I particularly love Make it all count-I am already anticipating the next CD.

It was surprised for the voice!!
You are an excellent singer.
I feel the soul in the voice.
The sound making is also perfect.
It will expect it in your future.

Great - but a bit samey
Lovely Henry, but think it needs more variety in tempo and arrangement. If you could get Paul Simon, Rod Stewart or Phil Collins to give some suggestions I think you'll go far.

Best wishes from a fellow displaced & aching Zimbabwean.
