Album Notes
"Music can be a means by which we transcend all our troubles and thus gain needed solace. Good music affords us even more in terms of mental, physical and spiritual peace. Medical science has concluded that there are healing properties associated with music. It has been my personal experience that there are a host of doctors who play and perform the music that they love. More often that not these performers are as effective as any prescription for healing than anything out of a pharmacy. Dr Herman Brooks excels at administering this medicine on this collection of offerings designed to capture the imagination with lyrics that evoke the very spirit of life itself.

It's kind of folksy, kind of funky, and kind of bluesy, with each step of the way punctuated by a message of faith. Observe with your ears how this is accomplished as the performers listen intently to one another, breathing together sensing the mood of the notes as they come, putting forth the harmony and sharing in the fun. It is through this listening context, feelings, visions, hopes and thinking are shared. In moments of crystal clarity there is a communication of souls between one another and with the listener. On wings of sound, the artists transport us to places deep within and far without ourselves. This is what is offered and this is recorded.

Dr Brooks is to applauded for having penned the music, the lyrics, excepting Otis Redding's "Any Ole Way," and for having played all of the instruments with the exception of the dynamic saxophone work turned in by veteran top notch LA musician, Maurice Gainen, who is featured on two songs and did the engineering. Add to all of that the stellar vocal stylings of two standout professionals. The duo of Martin Yarborough and his daughter, Raya, provide a lush background as the background voices.

I think that you will find that the music on this is a conversation among friends and a message to the uninitiated, that you are welcome to be a part of life and you are in good company.
