ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
HERO was a Progressive Rock band from Tampa, FL. In the early 1990s, many thought “Prog Rock” had seen its better days, as Grunge was dominating the musical landscape. But Rob Kosinski, Keith Leedham, Lee Calderon and Glen Wyeth had a vision of a resurgence in Progressive music. All four were transplants to the Tampa area from the Northeastern US. Through chance meetings and happenstance, the group formed and quickly started writing and recording.

The two songs offered here were a demo recording made in the garage studio of lead singer Keith Leedham’s house on an 8-track analog tape machine in 1994. The title for the two song EP, “Helo”, came from a local music publication in Tampa that misspelled the band’s name as “Helo” in an article about local acts.

Recently, Rob Kosinski remastered the now 20-year-old recordings. After posting the tracks to Facebook as a sort of 20th Anniversary Tribute, the tracks started garnering some interest from some newer fans. It was then decided to offer the tracks to all through iTunes… an option not available 20 years ago.
