you can also get some information here:

this album was recorded at hinkelstone-studios
near the wonderful black forest in germany.
it rather took a long time from the first session
to the final release !
It is a solo-project of the "FoolsGarden"-guitarist
Volker Hinkel.
Dirk Bluemlein and Claus Mueller (now playing in "FoolsGarden" as well !) joined this project in 2001.

the album

Not just a simple album but an one hour lasting emotional journey, which involves and show you the various facets of a less than ordinary artist and his music. From pop to rock, through modern disco music ("Run" and "The Beauty Of It"), sweet ballads ("You Can't Fall Down"), awesome instrumental tracks ("Reprise" and "Save Your Life") and songs with a hit potential ("Shine").
All accompanied by captivating lyrics, which describe strong feelings and characters, in an atmosphere between dream and hard reality

Volker Hinkel began his musical career in 1979 with his first band. After several projects he formed the band FOOLS GARDEN
together with Peter Freudenthaler in 1990.
Together they wrote the world hit "Lemon Tree" which was produced by Volker Hinkel as well.
After producing 6 Fools Garden albums he took some time to work on his solo project in 2002.

In 2000 Volker produced the song "Under My Wing" by Brainstorm, the album "Hope Garden" by Cae Gauntt and "Sister Moon" by Mira Kay. He also appeared as guest star on the album "Sensor" (2003) by Camouflage.
He produced the single of Yannic Günther "Nowhere", and is collaborating to the new album of Daniele Groff (Italy).
Volker currently released his second solo album : "Not A Life-Saving Device".

Fantastic album!
One of the best albums ever written. And no matter how popular it is. Hinkel is genius!

A Masterpiece that haunts you sweetly to go back & listen over & over.
A very addicting album, each song quite different & each a pleasure to listen to. Hinkel presented himself on myspace with a polite invitation to give a listen. I am SO glad he did & I listened; I ordered the CD based on the 3 or 4 songs I had heard & was extremely happy with the rest of the album as well. The Best song (to me) is "You can't fall down", which wasn't one I had gotten to hear on myspace so was new to me when I received the CD. Speaking of receiving the CD, I have to comment on the COOLNESS of CD Baby: They ROCK!~ It was the most fun I have had making a purchase online ever & will gladly return & give them great references. So, my Highest Recommendation on both the very talented musicians AND the COOL CD site!
Thank you :) ~shmama

Songs for every mood
This album is really great at capturing different moods. If you feel like pop, it's got it, if you want something "deep," it's got it too. It's an album I have yet to use the next button on.

Love the C.D. I would say its one of my best C.Ds and I have thousands,Its wicke
The C.D is awesome, the tracks are so nice to listen too.I would definitely buy another album.

I love it!
This is a great cd, i just put my order in and from the song sampling i know that i will love it. I have heard three full tracks on myspace and it was enough to get me to buy it. The ballads are brilliant and deep, there's lots of talent here and i'm glad that i'm able to be a part of it by owning a copy of this cd.

Great CD
A great album from the german musician Volker Hinkel. This solo project is much better than his first one and is defently a must have if you like the good rock. specially the songs shine, house of love,When I die are great but the one that really takes the cake is you cant fall down an awesome ballad whit a very sentimental force.
But If you like this cd also you should try buying the new album of fools garden Ready fr the real life this one is really really a must have and you can get it at cduniverse ... UUPST sorry for the advertaisment guys but i have to do it. ^.^

So Glad I ordered it.
This C.D. is exactly as a thought it would be. So easy to listen to. I love to listen after I have worked all day, it relaxes me. I put on my computer and keep it in my car. You can really relate to the lyrics. "House of love," really hit home for me. Wish I could see them perform.

Great production, vocals, and songwriting! They ROCK!!
Fresh sound; definitely a cd that I'm keeping in the car at all times. These talented men need more media exposure! Get the word out about HINKEL!!!! :-D

As usual, it is just amazing what your doing-for me it is the best CD of the Year!
Keep on rock'in!
