by Hollow Horse

What are Hollow Horse like ? Well, a wee mixed bag of sweeties really; sort of Crowded House meets Paul Weller with a twist of Roy Orbison and a subtle hint of Elvis Costello. Sounds good ? They are good. Chris Difford said,'These songs are great'.

Album Notes
Formed in Glasgow during the Autumn months of 2001, Hollow Horse have developed steadily since their inception. Every step has been a forward movement, every gig a lesson learned. As a result, the band have suffered little of the self-mythology and unwarranted hype which has proved the ruin of so many of their contemporaries.

Following recent ambitious recording experiments which saw the band utilising brass, woodwind, strings and additional backing vocalists, Hollow Horse are currently operating as an essential quartet with emphasis placed firmly on thrilling musicianship and the multi-faceted abilities of band members Kenny Little, David Wotherspoon, Ian Stevenson and Kevin Devlin.

With willing participation in numerous festivals and benefit shows over recent years and appearances on T.V. and Radio and many prestigious West of Scotland venues to their credit, the group have cultivated a sharply-honed live sound and charismatic stage presence. Hollow Horse look set to translate a rapidly blooming local acceptance into future national success.

Excellent. Exciting. Powerful. Wonderful!
I've both of Hollow Horse's CDs, and love them both for different reasons. Kenny Little has a wonderful, powerful, soulful lead voice. The songs are uplifting, moving, happy, heartfelt and easy to sing along with. Bits of them seem to stick with me and I find them coming back to me all day. What a talented group. I look forward to more from Hollow Horse.

Great Scottish Music!
I play their music on my podcast cruisin with susan many times. I love their music. Kenny's voice is passionate and powerful. I tell every American that this Scottish music Rocks! I make sure they know that it's not bagpipes, but great rock/pop music. Buy this cd and you won't be disappointed, you may just wear out the cd playing it so much! This band is fantastic. This is one excellent cd.

Hard to pigeon hole but excellent songs.
I have been hearing more and more about this band for months now and decided to check them out. I ordered both albums and have to say they are both very good indeed - hard to pigeon hole, but excellent writing, singing and playing.

The first three and the last track on this album are simply gems.
I have just discovered that this album has become available to down-load via MP3tunes. The first three tracks and the last one, the title track, are simply undiscovered gems. I think they are truly stunning songs. I plan to order the whole album in C.D. format now that I have these four tracks on my i-pod. I have never heard of The Hollow Horses before, but I followed a lead from the forum pages of CD Times website and tracked them down. A band to watch I think. Great stuff.

A Die-cast Five-Star Stonker
This is a gem. Life-affirming, passionate, intelligent and full of great tunes, riffs and surprises - I'll Be Right Beside You has to be one of my top ten of all time, once you've got that accordian solo inside your head it's there for life. It's just so good to hear real music from real musicians who know what they're doing and, perhaps more importantly, have seen a bit of real life and have something to say about the stuff we all struggle with at one time or another - great credit to Hollow Horse for managing to produce beautifully crafted, timeless and genuinely moving music in the midst of a torrent of disposable tripe.
To anyone with functioning ears, I wholeheartedly recommend Beggarstown as a CD you won't ever misplace or lend to anyone. Great stuff.

A good find from Scotland
Hollow Horse's second CD spans various styles, from a kind of folky Crowded House( on such songs as 'Forget the Girl' or 'Beggarstown)to blue-eyed soul pop on the standout track 'Do what you do best' which should be on the radio everywhere. A very enjoyable album indeed.

A stunning piece of work from Hollow Horse
The first time I heard the title track from this album it stopped me in my tracks and sent me to my computer to find it. The rest of the album doesn't disappoint either, between the satisfyingly complex musical arrangements to Kenny Little's powerful singing and lyrics there isn't much to not like here. Every track sparkles with a clarity and sincerity sadly lacking in today's popular music. I highly recommend this album to anyone who appreciates a soulful, powerful musical experience.

Superb second album
Superb Second album from the band. Filled with great melodies and intelligent lyrics this is a more consistent album than their debut. Standout tracks are Just to know you are in the world, Right beside you and the title track Beggarstown which is surely the bands best song to date.

Where have Hollow Horse been hiding ? This is truly great music.
Heard two tracks on the tartanpodcast. Bought the album and think it is great. Where have this band been hiding ? I recommend it to everyone.
