ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
My influences span a diverse crowd from Janis Ian to Pink Floyd to Hank Williams and modern artists Allison Krauss, Mumford and Sons, The Fleet Foxes and much more.

Everything that influences me is set upon a foundation of hymns and harmonies.

I developed a relationship with playing music that has only grown over time. Began playing the piano at the age of five and opted out of lessons as a personal decision at a young age, which my parents respected, choosing rather to learn on my own by ear. I was often found singing my original tunes in church.

As an adult I began singing and playing in the live music scene in Michigan. I quickly fell in love with performing for large and small crowds and learned how to play the guitar and banjo so that I had something to easily bring with to shows.

In 2012 I started the band Woven Tangles which released an album through Funky D Records in 2013.
We have quickly branded ourselves as a “Detroit Folk” band. Kevin Kline, the second leader of the band and quickly adapted himself to my love for harmonies and the quiet moments in music as well as well as creating a ruckus.

James Thompson puts it best “Enjoying their music together is a given. Their love and respect for one another and for their friends and audiences instills in every song a soulful adventure in sweetness and light. But beyond that, you'll find that you will enjoy the people responsible for giving these songs as gifts to you, and your smile in return is the greatest thanks necessary.”

In 2014 I had a chance meeting with a retired legend in the music industry, Bobby Henkins. He quickly put me in the studio and began recording my first solo album. We can't go wrong with Peter Jay as engineer and Bobby producing and helping guide the process. The album is still in works to be released. and it is honestly one of the best things to ever happen to me musically.

My plans for 2015 are to begin working more on my solo music career while at the same time continuing playing shows with the band. They are two very different things for me, the band is fun and I get to dance around and be with the people I love on stage. The solo gigs are more sensitive and I get to focus more on my voice and my instrumental precision. Writing, writing, writing is the mantra for this up and coming year. I've never been genre specific and this year I hope to finish writing some pop tunes as well as continuing honing in on the Indie-folk-country music that is being recorded by Pete and Bobby Hankins.

The new album is indicative of my favorite writing style which tells stories from my life and the lives of made up characters such as the “Lumber Jacks Son” or “ The Pirate”. Some of them are meant to be fun while others are meant to pull on the heart a bit and maybe make you feel nostalgic. Whatever the style is you can expect a good story and thought provoking lyrics.
