ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Holly's sultry vocals are reminiscent of an era past, full of heart and soul."
- recording artist Sweet Irene

Holly Lorette lives and breathes music, and she should. The Charlotte, NC-based vocalist and songwriter hails from a strong musical family that includes her NC Folk Heritage Award winning grandfather, Jim Shumate, as well other notable songwriters and musicians.

Holly’s music has been heavily influenced by the experiences she's had growing up in the South, a part of the country rich in its complexities and contradictions. “I like to think of my sound as dark folk--often a bit haunting lyrically and stylistically, but with an end goal of making peace with the emotional hardships of life. Being a part of this musical culture, surrounded by friends and family musicians has shaped how I experience and write music.”
