Album Notes
This album spans numerous years of writing from both John and Jamie. Notes on each song are below.

1. Hard Time ... this song was written by John in around 1992 when making a decision about changing jobs. Jamie heard John playing it in 2015 and she added a bridge to the arrangement. Jamie's son Elliot made a video for this song and turned it into a James Bond theme.
2. 442 ... this song was written by John about a Oldsmobile 442 that he won in 1977 by entering a jingle contest put on by Larry's Auto Wrecking in Burlington. The song tells the story of that fast car, working at a plywood mill in Anacortes and racing after work to Gianelli's bar about 10 miles east on Highway 20.
3. Little Holiday ... written by Jamie. After a particularly gloomy winter, a quick getaway to the warmth of Eastern Washington and some baby llamas inspired this ode to quick vacations.
4. Trying To Survive ... written by John after Katrina devastated New Orleans
5. Soul Biscuit ... written by Jamie. Music is therapeutic and and can be ingested in biscuit form, apparently.
6 Centerline ... written by John with collaboration by Steve Kleinbart. Song is about commuting and was written when John and Steve worked at Hewlett Packard in the 1980's and car pooled together from Mount Vernon to Lake Stevens
7. What Are We Living For ... written by John about all the things we do in life and wondering what it's all about
8. Population ... written by John about the growing concern of over population in the world. Uh oh...
9. Tonight ... written by John and is meant to be the evolution of a love relationship a: the excitement of the beginning, the disappointments after some period of time, and ultimately, reconciliation and acceptance of each other
10. We've Got Something Special ... written by John as a celebration of his mom, Ruth, who was the life of the party at family gatherings. It has a Dixieland feel to it with horns and is about playing music and enjoying friendship and family time together.
