Album Notes
Within the Hawaiian community of Monterey, California the Ho’omana Hawaiian Band is one of the top recording and performing groups in Northern California, a name newly recognized since November 2003. The name synonymous with traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music is known from Sacramento to San Francisco to Monterey, CA with musical tours in Honolulu, HI and Reno, NV.

As a loosely organized band of five members originally called, “Monterey All Stars” they performed as an opening act for the South Seas Island Jam with many top name recording artists from Hawaii in Monterey, CA on October 21, 2001. Today, they have become one of the most popular groups in town.

The group has seen a few changes over the years. The five members have become three; the sound is tighter, with six-string rhythm and slack-key guitars, ukulele and electric or upright bass. The music has also evolved, but despite the changes, it has remained unique, a sound instantly recognized: fresh arrangements of traditional, contemporary Hawaiian and Christian songs with beautiful three-part harmonies.

The goal of Ho’omana is to be recognized in Hawaii and the local recording industry as a nominee or awardee to the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Awards of excellence (Hawaii’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards). Their first CD “Kanani Ahiahi” was released in 2004. The men of Ho’omana began work on their second CD called “Ho’olokahi” or coming together in January 2011 with final completion date and first release on February 18, 2013.

The band members include Robert Uncangco from Nanakuli, HI, on lead & background vocals and 6-string rhythm guitar, Manley Bush from Waimanalo, HI, on lead & background vocals and 6-string slack-key guitar & Ukulele and Eddy Navarro from Manila, Philippines, on lead & backup vocals and electric or acoustical Bass.
