ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

The Scheherazade Quartet is the only string quartet in Iran to consist of 4 women who have all performed with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. Despite the limitations female musicians face in Iran, this quartet has successfully collaborated with the likes of Homayoun Shajarian, Tahmoures and Sohrab Pournazeri, and Shahrdad Rohani.
The Other Side is in part praise to femininity, in part praise of country of Iran. It is a great honor to have it performed by the Scheherazade Quartet, four Iranian female musicians who are deep and most profound interpreters of this music.
