ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Inspiration struck Joy Rose in 1997 when she made the move from Soho N.Y. to the suburbs with her four children. Landing with thud, Joy was struck down with Lupus which resulted in a kidney transplant.

The road to recovery has been paved with music. "Housewives On Prozac" started singing in church basements and at local fundraisers. Westchester has been swingin' ever since. In fact, the inspiration to motivate other car poolers to integrate "senseless acts of beauty" into their daily ritual, is paying off, and "Housewives" everywhere are singing a different, zestier, more outrageous tune.

Her first record, "No Prescription Required" embody the sweet/sour poignancy and humor of being a mid-life rocker trying to raise a family in the new millennium. Donning leopard and lingerie, Joy's startling new songs, Plastic Surgery, My Beautiful Hole, and Chemotherapy, weave swing, country and jazz elements throughout. The album emulates a "live performance" with an audience cheering them on.

She's now the founder of MAMAPALOOZA Inc., a nationally recognized festival for Moms Who Rock! She continues to play both solo comedy and rock shows for live audiences, clubs, radio and TV.

Lyrics were a bit shocking for my taste
Your music was peppy, but I found some of your lyrics too specific for my tastes and I had hope to help a friend of mine who is going through chemotherapy. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but after reading an uplifting article, I was really disappointed. I did enjoy your Christmas shopping CD.

This is a quieter, gentler 'Housewives' obviously pensive, but with the sense of
Housewives started off with a whisper, finding a voice for a whole new generation of women with something to say. While the later Housewives band roars, this one is a more pensive reflection on what it is to survive illness, love your children and always keep your tongue in your cheek. The songs are softer, like a purrrr before the roar of a movement that finds Moms across America picking up their guitars to tell stories of what its 'really' like being home with all those kids. Joy shines. The Housewives support her well.
