ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hot Club Swing's 3rd album ‘Douce Ambiance’, meaning 'sweet atmosphere', was recorded over two days in Jan 2013 at an improvised studio set up in a small theatre space in a semi-rural township in Victoria, Australia. “We wanted to play in a place that we felt comfortable in - where we could just enjoy ourselves and play the best we can”. What stands out in the recording, apart from the album’s warm sound, is the spontaneity and sense of fun the group had in making the record.

Recorded live-to-tape with no headphones, it was clearly going to be an organic and exciting end result. Songs include fan favourites, a couple tangos, some French numbers, one original composition and a mixture of swing tunes, all with that irrepressible feel good sound that is the backbone of gypsy jazz.
