ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
House Of Hiss is the brainchild of UK composer Alisdair Stirling. Alisdair writes quirky, catchy pop songs and instrumentals and gives them lush, lo-fi arrangements reminiscent of Italian and French film scores.

The band consists of Alisdair Stirling, the Sensible Twins aka Hans Petter Gundersen / Kato Ã…dland and Bergen producer Jorgen Traeen plus a collective of other musicians in Bergen and the UK. They have recorded a stunning debut album at Gjoa Studio which mixes psychedelia, tropicalia and exotica influences with references to Beach Boys, Motown and Morricone.

The album project began as a solo record to showcase Alisdair's songwriting but was so enjoyable to record that the project evolved into a fully-fledged
band as the musicians' ideas gelled in the studio and the potential in the material became apparent.

An (un)easy listening masterpiece
A beautifully conceived album. Well produced, carefully chosen sounds, strong songs and performances. If you like Burt Bacharach, John Barry, Pet Sounds, Klaus Wunderlicht and even the French band Fugu, you'll love this. My favourite track (the only one I had before I found this on CD Baby) is the exquisite Dappled Park. Dunno why but it's a real tearjerker
