Album Notes
Self-release number three from pop rock musician Greg Hoy happens to be the first issued under both his first AND last names. Meticulously created in his Brooklyn apartment studio during a creative near year-long bout with ‘gainful under-employment,’ the record digs into politics, both international and interpersonal, priming the power pop pump while adding disco beats, analog synths, acoustic guitars and hand percussion.

The first, self-titled solo CD HOY was recorded and released in 2003, receiving substantial support from NYC press and beyond, getting placement of the lead-off track ‘Tested By History’ on the WB Network television series ‘One Tree Hill’. Live shows as a trio followed, with writing of new material in 2004.

Release two, 2005’s mega-caffeinated band effort ‘Forever Endeavour,’ features a tasty guitar cameo by Bad Religion/Minor Threat guitarist Brian Baker. Recorded both at Greg’s home studio and with the notorious Mr Wohlsen (50 Cent) in Brooklyn. The band’s exciting live show was honed from Detroit to Boston to DC and back.

‘Greg Hoy & The Boys’ will begin promoting the CD with live shows after its release in 2006, available as are the previous two releases at Not Lame Recording Company, CD Baby and iTunes.

‘Tastemakers & Heartbreakers’
Written, played, recorded and mixed by GH at home.

The guy knows his way around a crunchy lick
The guy knows his way around a crunchy lick and TASTEMAKERS & HEARTBREAKERS is full of them . Hoy most likely has a convertible and loved the old days when he could cruise with the top down and crank his music. He missed those old day and wanted to make a record that those convertible guys would wanna listen to and with TASTEMAKERS & HEARTBREAKERS he has. Check out “Someone calling Elvis” and “Kissy Kissy (New York City)”. If this review doesn’t make you want to go out and buy this record, I don’t know what does.

Like Paul McCartney, only blonder...
Like Paul McCartney, only blonder, Greg Hoy handled all the instruments on "Tastemakers & Heartbreakers," a new release that kicks off with the most infectious put-down of the Bush administration since that Kanye West speech earlier this year.

Hoy’s new album is his most interesting and accessible. Tastemakers & Heartbreak
Tastemakers & Heartbreakers is a treasure trove of exciting, infectious power-pop songs...Hoy’s success derives from complete commitment of effort, passion, imagination, and musicianship to each individual song. Uniquely, everything flows; his albums never sound like a disjointed collection of tracks. For the unexposed, Hoy’s new album is his most interesting and accessible. Tastemakers & Heartbreakers confirms that Hoy is among the best contemporary pop-rock artists.
