Album Notes
Hand Painted Swinger humbly began life as the PestStrips, a well sought after cover band that played the Mid-Atlantic music scene throughout the 1990s. The PestStrips recorded a full length CD of original music in 1996, entitled "Sticky", which was nominated for a "Wammy” award by the Washington Area Music Association. The PestStrips received favorable reviews for "Sticky" which they promoted it until they stopped performing live in 2000.

Long time friends Jim Higley, Billy Plank, and Bob Shellhouse reunited in 2005 to write and record all new material. Today, the 3 long time members are known as Hand Painted Swinger and were recently joined by David Vespoint, ex-bass player of Interscope recording artist, Love Nut, to round out their sound.

Well over a decade after they originally began, with an impressive library of original and cover songs under their belts, Hand Painted Swinger is playing the local circuit promoting their latest CD "Speed Hump." "Speed Hump" finds the band in true form emphasizing steady pop-rock soundscapes met head on with tasteful roots-rock song crafts. The band uses an effective mix of melodies and heartfelt lyrics that truly exhibit their maturity as musicians to captivate audiences everywhere.

This CD is really great--pick one up today!
I bought my copy a few months ago and we never take a car trip without it. My friend borrowed my CD and now she won't give it back! I think I'll just pick up another copy and a few more for stocking stuffers. The CD is really awesome...I'd recommend it to everyone!

Nice, mellow sound
This is a great debut CD. The beats are really catchy without being too poppy, and the lyrics will stick in your head for a few days. Nice variety, too. I especially liked "Katie 180". Overall, a nice mix of classic and alternative rock.

Awesome Band!
If you haven't seen these guys live, you definitely need to check them out.....as for the CD, it does a great job of capturing their unique sound and relaying the excitement of HPS live experience. Recommended highly.

Another smashing album by the guys that brought you The Pest Strips!!!
Wow, this is the band I wish played at my college bar and now they're all over the DC Metro area. I've been to several of their shows and have had a great time at every one of them. Every time I pop in the CD I feel like I'm listening to them live, and instantly forget my worries. This album is a great sampling of their own music and they really show off their skills and their artistic flexibility. If you know the story behind "My Last Laugh" you'll have nothing but respect and admiration for this group and this CD. Keep them coming HPS, I just can't get enough!!!

A Most Excellent Piece of Musicry
I can't believe it took me so long to go see HPS, but once I did, I became a fan for life. This is such an awesome CD, I can't take it out of my CD player!

This CD is amazing! Not just one or two good songs, but the entire CD is AWESOME! The songs will stick in your mind for the rest of the day. A MUST HAVE!
