ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Listening to Huckleberry's music opens a place in our hearts where Nature is alive and life is good.
"Listening to and singing along with him makes me feel as if I'm in a mystical old growth forest or perhaps an enchanted wild coast...not only in it but part of it..."

His music and lyrics elicit a healthy longing for a life full of Nature, love and harmonious happy people living lives of beauty. The quality of his heartfelt voice lets us know that he sees and feels the beauty that he sings of.
If you like to sing-either along with or in harmony, singing with Huckleberry will transport you to an exquisite happy place~a place you probably dreamed of when you were young.

Huckleberry is a prolific songwriter who blends passion, love, humor and common sense with masterful guitar and a pure singing voice. You want him to keep on singing...."you might feel as if you've come upon some sort of forest spirit; a hobbit or maybe a cherub...singing from the depths of his soul~ about things you always wanted to sing about too..."

Huckleberry grew up playing in the forest, back when there was a little more of it. He is third generation native of the Olympic Peninsula which he still calls home. His 2 sons were also there born and raised. He feels a collective ancestral responsibility for all that has been done to the once majestical Old Growth Forests of the Pacific NW. When he sees massive stumps still lingering, reminding us of what once was...in his heart he still sees the tress AND the forest ...
...and he's willing to sing about it, to feel it, to feel love for the forest, perhaps to sing it back to life...

Huckleberries grow in almost every stump in a clearcut. They are a land-healing plant. Likewise, Huckleberry is an incredibly positive human, always willing to see the bright side, to offer love where there is pain, solutions where there are problems, and songs, bright thoughts and willing hands in service.

Huckleberry is a master of many trades. His woodworking skills are over the top. He built the Lady Washington with X other master artisians in 199x. He's a natural builder and International Permaculture Teacher. He's built multiple houses, (cabins/lodges/etc), boats, and other things too numerous to count...

He loves and specializes in making musical instruments out of Old Growth cedar(salvaged, obviously), in order to "give voice to Cedar" indeed an incredible tree.. and to remember its complex forest home.

As a permaculture teacher and practitioner, he focuses on creating simple sustainable and regenerative solutions with locally available resources, to help both people and ecosystem.
Always focused on ecosystem restoration as well as edible landscapes, he has created many systems for soil regeneration and forest gardening:
He makes biochar in biochar digesters that he makes himself with salvaged and recycled materials,
He makes worm compost bins with recycled wood (better than plastic), green houses, rocket stoves and thermal mass heaters...then he combines all those systems and can grow (and show others how to) fantastic food, medicine and other useful plants all year long.

As a natural builder he continues to explore more and more simple, elegant and functional designs using what nature teaches us. He has taught many natural building and Roundhouse workshops/internships for natural building & permaculture students internationally.
Endlessly adaptable, Roundhouses are an elegant & dynamic design with tensgrity, built with roundpoles for the frame and various earth-based recipes for the walls, floors and roofs.

At home, he participates with family in making as much of their own food as possible. He salvages bones and hides from local hunters and friends who otherwise discard them, and has mastered the arts of making stock and tanning hides! He also creates biochar with bones and shells for building materials, water filters, and a variety of other uses.

With beloved lifepartner and co-creator ginger, they are currently moving from being primary caregivers for his 95 year old mother, to designing and seeking the Space of Love they wish to co-create. They are inspired by (among other things) the Ringing Cedars of Russia" book series and the ideas of Anastasia to transform the world into a garden paradise for all.
They hope to co-create a human settlement with other inspired humans entertaining Bright Thoughts for the Future.
