Album Notes
Salaam. Peace!

Mohammed Aoulou (a wonderful young musician from Morocco) & myself got together to produce this album with the intention of being able to contribute something good & melodious towards the many efforts of closing the gap of misunderstanding between Muslims & non-Muslims in the world today. Amidst all the chaos & hate swirling around the world, we thought that producing "Salaam" might trigger off some positive vibes amongst the listeners; and hopefully create some kind of an ambiance for peace, understanding & compassion in the world. In line with this intention, Salaam was made to support a vision to create a non-profit organization called, "SALAAM: A Center for Peace & Development." Please, help us make this dream of establishing "SALAAM" a reality. We are donating half of the proceeds on this CD towards its creation.

Mohammed Aoulou, a brother in Islam, who plays the lead guitar; and myself, Morsidy Husin, a Muslim from southern Philippines, who is the singer-songwriter & rhythm-guitar player on this album, presents the artistic & peaceful sides of the Muslims through songs & poetry. We believe that a way to peace & understanding between Muslims & non-Muslims is to focus attention on our human commonalities (i.e., music, poetry, arts, sports, & universal spirituality); and not on our differences (religions).

Mohammed Aoulou is a creative musician & guitar player. He started playing music in Morocco when he was 12 years old. At 18, he & his brothers formed a rock band & played in hotels & restaurants in Casa Blanca, Morocco. Today, he is based in Santa Cruz, California, with his own Moroccan band ("AZA", which just released its own awesome album). As for my self, Morsidy Husin: I am an avid student of music, poetry, & life itself. I started singing when I was about 6 years old; and started playing acoustic guitar when I was 16. Though, I love music & played my own songs since high school, my main focus in college was poetry & education. While I was finishing up my masters in Asian Studies at the University of the Philippines (UP), I wrote various poems, which were published by the UP Philippine Collegian in Quezon City, Philippines. Please, listen to this CD; Mohammed & I are pretty sure that you're going to like it.

Our sincerest thanks to you for buying this album; and for supporting peace. Salaam!

Great instruments & tunes, vocals need more strength
Great instruments & tunes, specially the violins. Flows effortlessly into rhythm with the peaceful countenance of mother nature. But vocals need more strength and clarity, and some elements of strong winds and seven seas would have made this CD an excellent debut for very talented artists.

sincere and inspiring
well-blended music, smooth flowing instruments, inspiring lyrics..... but vocals need more clarity.
