ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The third solo album by IAME (pronounced "I Am Me") is called "Lame" -- a title inspired by a common misprint of his name and his general sentiment towards popular culture. This multi-textured album shows the depth and skill of the Portland, Oregon based artist. A member of Northwest supergroups Sandpeople and Oldominion, he has spent the last two years recording this very personal yet entertaining album. Lame shifts between heavy, thought provoking subject matter, detailed narratives, and tongue in cheek commentary. Lame is entirely produced by Smoke M2D6, a fellow Oldominion member whose inventive beats have helped define the sound of Northwest hip hop. For this album he composed a diverse, genre-bending assortment of tracks filled with live instrumentation, ethereal melodies, and hard-hitting drums. Elements of blues, soul, epic rock, and electronica all combine seamlessly to create a truly unique listening experience.

Dope album!
This is possibly IAME's best solo album yet. Pretty different to his first 3 albums, but not in a bad way. The production by Smoke gives the album a real cohesive and unique sound throughout, making it really feel like a complete 'album' rather than just a bunch of dope individual songs. IAME is better than ever and I feel like he gels better with Smoke's production than he did with Sapient's on his last official album (that said, Sape is my fav producer/emcee in the WORLD so no disrespect intended!). The album is consistent as fuck quality wise, it'll take several listens to really appreciate each track cos the standard is so high from start to finish. Definitely up there with my fav albums of 2011 so far, and it's been a pretty good year so that's high praise. Can tell this is an album that will still sound great 5-10 years from now... Eagerly anticipating more from IAME in the near future! Highly recommended..
