The Shores of Cromarty

by Ian Grant

Ian was born and raised in the Highlands of Scotland and when he was 22 years old left there with his wife and children and went to Australia. Not long after leaving and missing his mother who he was very close with and realising that she would be missing him too, decided to write her a song. Along the east coast of the highlands there are many wee fishing villages, where in the 1800’s and well into the 1900’s many derived their living from fishing the wild and often treacherous North Sea. Many went out in their wee craft never to return. Ian imagined there would be many mothers through the years looking and praying from the Shore waiting for an overdue boat to appear on the horizon. Ian thought that just like them his mother would be anxiously waiting for him to return. Here is that song Ian wrote many years ago for his mother.

Album Notes
This is the only recording Ian has done to this stage of his life. The song sung by Ian has had airplay in Scotland, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand to date but nobody has been able to purchase a copy. Here it is now available for purchase and if you do purchase it and like it tell your friends where to get it. Thank you for listening to my song I wrote for mam so long ago.
