Album Notes
Ian Ring is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and composer, born and still living in Kitchener. Extending a long history of musical work in many genres, Ian has in recent years concentrated on composing an extensive body of concert work for solo piano. This is Ian's first film score.

The MacQueens are a husband and wife band who bring their distinct influences together to create a sonic blend of singer/songwriter folk, rock, country, bluegrass and alternative music. They currently live in Kitchener, Ontario. Kris remembers hearing stories about 'The General' from when he was in elementary school.

Frank Groff, aka The Bridgeport General, was an eccentric resident of the Village of Bridgeport. For over 3 decades, Groff acted as a volunteer crossing guard at the busy intersection of Bridge and Lancaster Streets.

He wore the same clothes year-round;  layers of sweaters underneath a heavy coat held together with safety pins, large rubber boots, and multiple hats.

In 1973, when the Village of Bridgeport was annexed by the City of Kitchener, the City’s official crossing guard policy was put into effect.  Groff was told that he would have to wear the City’s  official hat & vest, and that he could no longer use his homemade stop sign.

Groff refused to conform, and the people of Bridgeport rallied behind him.

The City of Kitchener has since officially honoured him by naming both a street and a park in his honour. Care For The Child tells the remarkable story of this eccentric man and the community that loved him.
