ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Leopard's Path" is written for instrumental sextet: Flute (doubling Alto and Piccolo), Clarinet (doubling Bass Clarinet), Cimbalom, Piano, Violin, and Cello. It is recorded by students of the University of Utah's School of Music. Each of 13 movements is a different look at the Jesse Allen's painting, which represents a surreal leopard in fantastic surrounding. Certainly, music can be described as a meditation, which often goes beyond objects in the painting. Most of the movements are written for full ensemble with the exceptions of three interludes, which feature duets of woodwinds, strings, and keyboard/cimbalom. The composer, Igor Iachimciuc is well-known in USA, and Moldova, his country of origin. His stylistic pallet is very broad and includes modern classical, jazz, folk, and country music. Very often his music is an unique fusion of seemingly antagonist styles, or gestures.
