ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The advent of the western tradition of music began with the Baroque era of Bach, the Classical era of Mozart, the Romantic era of Beethoven and Wagner, the modern era of Strauss and Berg, and now the era of Ii Kanji.
“Never had I cried as much as my 6 year old daughter listening to such beautiful music, these kids have put a spell on me that has defined my life from this moment on.” (Anonymous, 2008)
Ii Kanji’s music is the derivative of all these great traditions transformed into an ultimate expression of love, joy, laughter, anger, and sexuality all at once. To merely listen to the music would be missing a lesson of life, no, a lesson of humanity. Ii Kanji’s music is an experience both aurally and intrinsically, affecting the mind, body, heart, and soul. “What can we learn from Ii Kanji? I think the real question is what cannot be learned? If you were presented with the gift of food, you could sustain your body for that much longer, but if you were presented with the gift of inner peace, you could sustain your entirety for eternity.” (Mother Theresa, 1992)
With 2000 years of musical knowledge and having listened to every pop CD, ever, these young gentlemen and woman have come to reinvent your idea of music. If you think it’s “awesome” listening to some random song made by some 9 year old with a Casio keyboard while eating some pizza and drinking beers with your friends as you reminisce about how awesome high school was, or if you think it’s “mad sick” to listen to some half naked lady with monotonous drum beats and subliminal messages sing about how drunk she is, or even if you think it’s “off the chain” to listen to some British band who pretends to be extremely original with their songwriting except steals all their music, note for note, from U2, Depeche Mode, and Joe Satriani and denies any claim of doing so then OMG, Ii Kanji will rock your world. “I’m still waiting for them to compose the 10th symphony, they wrote that 9th one with the “Ode to Joy” right?” (Random PHD student, 2008)

"Ii Kanji's debut album will melt faces all over the world with its tunes that range from melodramatic love songs to upbeat J-pop singalongs. With members from all over the world -- China, America, Africa, Japan -- Maji Magic not only features global instrumentals and sends out the message that music, like love, is universal, but also promises to make everyone jump out of their hotseats and groove." (Usui, 2009)
