Album Notes
Mosquito Records London proudly presents Ike Moriz’s 13th studio album entitled
“SIREN TERPSICHORE” (iTunes link) (original Jazz/Swing/Latin/Crooners).

In the past five years No.1 international singer, producer, composer and actor Ike Moriz has been on an incredible journey delving deeply into the world’s vast songbook of Jazz, Latin & Swing standards: He recorded & published a total of eight albums of this genre, was voted one of the top five vocalists in South Africa, filmed several music videos, toured South Africa & Northern Europe playing over 350 concerts, and became one of the most sought after SA entertainers for both local & international events. Recently Ike also got married to Madri, sister to well-known SA stage and TV personality Nataniël (www.nataniel.co.za).

In 2013 Ike Moriz re-appears on the international Jazz & music scene with “Siren Terpsichore”, his 13th studio album to date, which has already been described as the “Crown jewel of original SA swing” (CD Baby). Composed, produced & recorded by Ike himself, it contains 14 beautifully crafted, brand-new songs in the Jazz/Swing/Latin genre - including the popular UK ‘Abbey Road Mix’ of his recent composition “Angie Blue” as well as two recordings in Spanish language, sung in his favorite Argentinean-Spanish accent.

Siren Terpsichore was recorded at Paris Studios in Cape Town with a band of top session musicians from all over the world (SA, Mozambique, Argentina, Germany, Scotland). The album is both upbeat and uplifting with his usual fresh, jovial, tongue-in-cheek Swing/Jazz sentiment.  If Frank Sinatra had been a songwriter and if he was still alive, he’d surely be writing songs such as these: with strong vocals, timeless melodies and powerful, archetypal lyrics straight from the heart!
Recent Reviews:

“The rich resonance of his voice makes Michael Buble's seem rather thin... Comparisons with the great Tony Bennett are inevitable.  Ike Moriz performing swing is that good!"  (FULL CIRCLE MAGAZINE, SA)

“His smooth, silky vocals are reminiscent of a modern day Nat King Cole... Like previous releases, Siren has a major positive going for it: Ike's awesome voice.  This guy can flat out sing… I am officially dubbing Ike's voice 'The Crown Jewel of South Africa'… An amazing gaze into the mind of a musical genius whose appreciation for great jazz music seems to know no bound.”  (IAE Magazine, Atlanta, USA)

“I’m sure had he been writing these songs 50 or 60 years ago, some would have become standards in their own right, and would have been sung by the great vocalists of the day – Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Sinatra, etc... Moriz takes hold of his material and dominates its tones and nuances with his utterly distinctive chords. It’s powerful, compelling & completely in tune with the drama of his songs.”  (Leicester Bangs Magazine, UK)

"… This cat writes a fine tune. Listen to it when wearing velvet and drinking martinis!" (FHM, SA)

The crown jewel of original SA swing
The crown jewel of original SA swing! An absolutely amazing album filled with beautiful swing and latin songs written by South Africa's own Frank Sinatra: Ike Moriz. I've been totally blown away by this artist. Forget Michael Buble or Sinatra.. this guy writes his own songs and they sound even more amazing than the classics of the swing genre. Top notch crooners to make us ladies melt. Loving it!!!

All it takes is one listen to any song on this album and you'll become an Ike Mo
Rating: 3.75 out of 4 stars;
Key Tracks: Autumn Moon, Sweet Sweet Jane
Ike Moriz is back with another one of Jazz masterpieces. Siren Terpsichore is Ike's latest album release making it his 14th release since the crooner began his journey making music. Like previous releases, Siren has a major positive going for it, Ike's awesome voice. The guy can flat out sing. All it takes is one listen to any song on this album and you'll become an Ike Moriz fan.

I'm always amazed by his ability to flow effortlessly between vocal octaves, almost as if he were just having casual conversations. Songs like Autumn Moon, See You in the Night, and Sweet Sweet Jane prove this point, all you have to do is listen and you'll understand what I mean.

Each song seems to be carefully selected and produced. Ike breathes life into songs
that have been lost as the years have passed and new generations have been born. I
appreciate Ike's love for the art of recreating classic songs by great singers like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. Every track on Siren Terpsichore would play well in any classy jazz lounge.

Besides the earlier mentioned songs, other great tracks include: Quiero Verte En La
Noche, You'll Have Your Way, and La Luna De Otoño. Each of these tunes showcases
Ike's versatility as an artist and are proof that jazz music is timeless.
I'd recommend checking this project out and showing your support by purchasing the

..."standards in their own right"...
Ike Moriz - Siren Terpsichore (Mosquito Records London)
Ike’s back! Not that he’s been away for too long. His brand new album is a collection off Latin jazz and swing songs, all written and composed by Moriz. It’s relatively rare for a collection like this not to lean heavily on standards, the classic songs written in the ‘40s and ‘50s, but it’s important to remember Moriz began his career as a singer-songwriter, fronting rock and pop bands in London. He’s now back in his native South Africa, where he’s proved himself an adaptable performer, recording a number of solo albums in various genres, and he continues to be a favourite on the Cape Town 5-star hotel circuit.

I’m sure had he been writing these songs 50 or 60 years ago, some would have become standards in their own right, and would have been sung by the great vocalists of the day – Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Sinatra, etc. Lead track “Autumn Moon” is an absolute stunner, and a laid back, easy Rat Pack vibe envelops both the delivery and the song’s sentiments; a perfect start. “Sweet Sweet Jane” and “Moonglow” are equally notable, the latter featuring a sublime juxtaposition of clarinet with Moriz’s smooth vocal, and he finishes with an Abbey Road mix of “Angie Blue”, a highlight from his 2011 “Still” EP. In-between there are two wonderful, original Spanish language songs, sung with an authentic, properly accented voice and plenty of Latin panache.
