Monkey Dope

by illeist collective

„Monkey Dope“ is colourfully shining electro-acoustic trip rock at its best. A staggering and tense monster you easily get addicted to. Shapely rethro-synth-layers, rocking new-wave-glory and an armada full of samples, bits and bytes are being dealt with.

Album Notes
_About the illeist collective

The Korg MS-20 is patched and the Juno-60 has been synced with the TR909 module. Bass and drums are on tape already. The illeists are in their element; they‘re dealing sounds. Three musicians, a visual master and a cosmos full of ideas. As the illeists start dialoguing with the dancefloor, they are armed with beauties of the analogue synthesizer world, ambitious visions and creative uncomprimisingness.

„Monkey Dope“ is the second album of the illeist collective (Zurich, Biel) and truly one such ambitious vision. An online album that not only gets to the bottom of the digital abyss but makes it accessible. The online album contains eleven songs each going to be visually implemented in a visual gallery and available as free download.

20 Minuten (most popular commuters paper in Switzerland, translated from German)
»The sound of the illeist collective is an atmospheric monster. The music of the collective has this je ne sais
quoi and stirs up ones blood from the very first second. Like an adrenaline kick as you go paragliding;
including the floating that follows.«

Manuel Fischer (Booking & promotion »Mundartisten Records«)
»The illeist collective offers musical diversity paired with irrepressible creativity They may not be the only
Swiss band that possesses this quality. But in comparison to others they strive for more and celebrate this
very fact at an international level.«

Bjørn Schaeffner (ROOF.FM, music editor for Züritipp)
»Haven’t we always known it? The enemy walks on four legs and is destined to end up in a saucepan.This
frenetic-ironic pop ode on eating meat jams, rumbles and swings in a manner that it’s a big feast.«
