Album Notes
IndianRaga brings together the best young musicians today to present Indian classical music in a way that is relevant and accessible to a younger, global audience today. The music is composed in traditional Indian classical style but presented in a refreshing, modern-day format.

Highlights was composed and performed at the 2013 IndianRaga Fellowship in New York City by Anuja Panditrao (Vocals), Kruthi Bhat (Vocals), Shreehari Raghavan (Vocals), Hrishikesh Dharam (Tabla), and Rohan Krishnamurthy (Mridangam). This composition evokes the joy and rush of emotions experienced on revisiting memories that are highlights of our lives. It feels like experiences with nature, such as the wind on our face or singing in the rain, or the joy of a bed of candles during the Diwali festival, or playing with color. It showcases how emotions and situations from our daily lives can be evoked through Indian classical ragas.

The IndianRaga Fellowship brings together the most talented Indian classical musicians in North America, selected by a panel of 11 international judges. The program gives talented young musicians an opportunity to work intensively on a new creative idea in a team, with the support of facilitators in an environment that encourages innovation and creative risk-taking. Fellows engage in an artistically rigorous process to create a visual experience for their music, and to make Indian classical music relevant to a global audience. IndianRaga Fellows become part of a growing network of peers and collaborators to support their life-long musical journey.
