Album Notes
Music for Inner Soul. Treat yourself to every lover's dream. Treat yourself to 'Kaafir'. The 'Rains of Fire' is also about the agony in 'Pain'. It also presents before you the trauma of the third world, it shows you the face of the world, see it for yourself, just 'walk in my ghetto'. 'Dont say' a story about the lover don who kills her beloved as he does his job. His job of destruction engulfs his love in the fire of hatred to the world. Dont say love is easy now... Music that makes you think as well it tells you a heartfelt a story or two of this true world! In this world of hate is it you all I it you my love I sing... I know 'U r my song'. 'Chirua' - a little bird in Himalayas, never wants to leave me and my love, my little world of love. Lets fill this world with love! But the truth shall remain, we have 'Rains of Fire' everywhere you go in the world, you will find the United Nations missions deployed to make peace... to make love. The UN carries weapons of 'love' (or is it hate) to peacekeaping mission(s)! Its all 'Rains of Fire'...

Atul says...

The music for this album is the culmination of a dream me and Gini saw together. We want to start small but sure. I hope you appreciate the hard work gone into the production of this album. I guess we've never drunk so much vodka in our lives. Hats off to Sir Smirnoff to keep the booze flowing. But I guess it did the trick.

Gini says...

"Atul is a character who seems to have just popped out of a book. You have to meet him for sure to believe it... He plays a variety of instruments - sax, guitar, clarinet, mandolin, flute, sitar, keys and also sings in a very different mode. He has been composing music since childhood. Always in search of a new sound and the only ambition in life was to create a band... He has created wonderful compositions as a founder band member of SilkRoute formed in the year 1995. The music album their first called 'Boondein' debuted at no.1 and scorched the charts with its fresh, evocative soundscapes, including the underwater video Dooba Dooba, which finally became a catalogue seller and demonstrated the creative talent of the band to a broad spectrum of listeners. ‘Boondein’ won rave reviews for its creative song-writing in Hindi, English and Pahadi, going on to sweep the prestigious Channel-V awards, 1998. Two years later Silk Route assimilated its skills to venture into previously unexplored musical terrain, and brought their immediately identifiable sound to the next level - Pehchan, the second album. Diversifying to other creative mediums came naturally to the band and subsequent forays have included composing songs for Kalpana Lajmi’s film ‘kyon’ and the entire soundtrack for the wacky movie ‘urf professor’... Lost in his own dreams, his own world he is creating new magic with the inception of a new band called 'Indic Mist', 2007... What else! Music for Atul is a passion who is always searching for the realms of the heart. Soul searching always to find new realities in sound, in music that would make you feel the depths to the core of your heart and soul... "Indic Mist"... started with Atul trying his hand at a solo career since Silk Route was not giving him his space and he needed to express himself... The songs are written by him and his wife Jyoti.

Atul says.....
"Well all this has been written by my friend Gini. The man who makes all the percussion and drum sounds on the album. He actually is a satellite engineer working for the United Nations. I call him DATA from Star Trek. Gini is the silent one. The only time he talks is when he gets a little tipsy. Else he is always sitting in front of the computer, mesmerizing us with his technicalites. it's been a learning experience with him. I met Gini when we were working on a project called KALAM. A music album with India's former president A P J Kalam's words. since then its been mutual respect, and bon homie. Gini was part of a band in UK called Artronika. Jammin with Arthur and Ruth. Gini is also coming out with his own album 'Maya'.

Jyoti is my wife and inspiration for all that I do. Hat's off to her to bear my idiosyncrasies through 22 years of our married life. She is my anchor and keeps me stable. She has the knack of writing beautiful poetry which i turn into my songs. The lyrics for 'kaafir are written by her'

Vishal is a beautiful person. he is so soft spoken one has to strain to hear his words... but when he gets his hand on the key board he says it with great flair. The most natural musician I've met. feels every note and his expression is straight from the heart. Piano on 'u r my song' has been played by Vishal.

Chintan my friend. Again straight from the heart. You just have to jam with him once and he feels every nuance. His expression is a different dimension to our music. He plays like a shaman hitting all the low notes just to uplift the groove.
