ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In February 2018, on a Facebook forum "Open Tuning and Slide Guitars," I noticed a video of a Hindustani
slide guitar player. I was mesmerized by the slide technique and tried to copy it, but alas was unable to get even
close to those sounds. As a result, I contacted RHITOM SARKAR and we chatted over Messenger. After several
conversations I invited RHITOM over to Canada with the intention of recording a melding of North American
and Indian slide guitar styles.
For this project, I contacted some of Canada’s greatest slide players, compiling a host of musicians, which
included finger-style guitar guru DON ROSS; Juno-nominated blues player SEAN PINCHIN; Slide man DAN
WALSH, formerly of the “Flying Squirrels;" South American bluesman DAVID WEST; Bluegrass-picking IVAN
ROSENBERG; Song-writer/vocalist SARAH SIDDIQUI; Dobro-duelling GUY WESTBROOK of the “Kil'Billys;" and
myself, Lap Steel guitarist MICHAEL OESCH.
Over 28 days in July 2018, in Waterford, Ontario, this collaboration of musicians wrote and recorded the
15 tracks for the album, "DELTA RAGA," by the INDO CANADIAN SLIDE PROJECT.
