Spirit of the 90s lives on
Youngstown, Ohio power pop band the Infidels sound so tight, it is not surprising they have been playing together for 20 years. They have a way with killer guitar solos/riffs and big singable choruses which add an extra dimension to their sound than most pop punk bands. But they are more than just another pop punk band, they have a whole additional rootsier side. Every single song on this CD is a killer track. Some of my favourites are All for Nothing, Big Dumb Version of You, Steal My Heart Away and classic retro-rocker, If You Don’t Love Me.
Vocally, they sound a little like Mick Jagger fronting the Goo Goo Dolls, without the lame acoustic ballads. A little bit of Counting Crows and REM jangle rock is thrown into the mix to make a really fun, energetic,up-tempo and lighthearted listen.
