Album Notes
JL Holmes and Ken Wilson began the project for South of America over a year ago. Since then, they have shared compositions and worked through jams as well as unfinished works. The personnel of In Flight is: JL Holmes- guitars and synth, Ken Wilson- vocals, keyboard, saxes and flute, Glenn Ayers- drums and percussion, Steve Kim- electric fretless bass, Mike Friedman- keyboard on track7, and Dave Glenn- trombone on tracks 3 and 7. Three vocals offer diversity and a soulful nod in the direction of Brazilian samba. Seattle based musician, Steve Kim, offers some highly original groove on fretless bass. Internationally known trombonist and composer, Dave Glenn, makes a dramatic appearance on two tunes as well. The group name, In Flight, alludes to the lyrics of the title track, "South of America," in which Ken dreams he is a condor in flight. The graphics on the cover allude to the magic of his lyrics. This project takes the listener on a journey around the world and into audio dreamscapes unimagined.
