ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The second album from Midlands jazz group Interplay, ‘ Global’ gives greater exposure to the band’s world music affiliations while remaining true to their full-on jazz expressiveness. With nods to the Latin, North African and Indian classical traditions among a real breadth of jazz compositions, the album presents a fresh approach to instrumentation and also showcases some fine individual and group improvisations.

The tunes come mainly from the pen of bassist and leader Adrian Litvinoff. Of the band’s first album ‘Introducing Interplay’ Jazz CD Reviews said ‘Litvinoff… wrote all but two of the tunes on this debut CD, and they are all melodious and memorable….the arrangements are warm and imaginative.’

And this band can also wail! Recent appearances have aroused audience responses like ‘My jaw was on the floor’ and ‘A brilliant gig…. Interplay were a fine band, moving from soft, atmospheric exploration to punchy, boppy stuff effortlessly!…and good fun! Excellent.’
